So episode 10 is upon us and we have a treat for you ! Owner of today’s leading chill channels ChillYourMind, Pavle Piscevic has joined us to talk about his day to day jobs and what keeps him motivated to succeed in the music industry today.
Who are you and what’s your background?
My name is Pavle and I’m the founder/owner of ChillYourMind, born in Belgrade, Serbia, 23years old. Literally from nothing to something, built from scratch with no help or anyone that understood the music industry from my country or YouTube in general at that time. ChillYourMind is a Record Label and a Music audiovisual curation and promotional channel on YouTube with more than 550K Subscribers. I focus mainly on styles and genres such as Deep House, Tropical House, Dance Pop, electronic pop and Summer Chill Music in general. Over time, ChillYourMind expanded to platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and others. Making it possible for listeners to listen to our carefully curated Playlists with our YouTube uploads and some personal favorites.
What does your job consist of on a day to day basis?
My ‘job’ is a everyday/allday routine that I’m always trying to fit in with other things in life such as working out, going out from time to time + finishing (almost done, last exam left) university..and of course having the time for my girlfriend. So what happends is that I’m online since the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep, which is usually at late nights due to timezones and everything, so I have to be online at those times. I’m always working, always making new contacts, always learning new things on a daily basis, and always listening and finding new music. A neverending journey that is now a part of my life and I’m happy it is.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
I don’t really know what to say as my biggest achievement, I wouldn’t pick some of the ‘best moments’ even tho there were many. I would say that my biggest achievement is that I managed to impact the world in some way. I’ve managed to create a community, a big community where everyone is spreading good vibes with good Music and finding answers through the music I share.
ChillYourMind Mixes and the Livestream/Radio have become a big deal on YouTube when it comes to Chill Music.. Summer Music..or just music in general that is perfect for playing in background no matter if you’re studying, working, gaming or just having a coffee in the bar. So far from my statistics, depending on the country, almost every third coffee shop/bar/restaurant/shop is playing ChillYourMind music on their speakers…Which is unbelievable for me. I never even imagined that I can make so many people enjoy the music I share. That’s something that always makes my heart melt and my soul happy.
Any tips and tricks that you wish you knew when you started?
Ahh, I could go on and on, but when you think about it – I wouldn’t change a thing, otherwise, I might not be here where I am now. I’d say that the greatest tip is to focus on the branding, always. Never lose the focus, don’t waste time in watching what are others doing and always focus on your own thing and your own vision, chase the goal and execute it. Don’t overstress on every detail, don’t overwork yourself – it’s important to enjoy the journey, because it might be your whole life, if you can’t learn how to enjoy it in the start, you’ll be having a rough time later.
For the readers looking to pursue a career in your field , do you have any advice for them?
If we’re talking about Record Labels. My advice would be, don’t rush into things, labels take time and trust. Get some knowledge first, learn, read, observe and then get into the Music industry. And always be nice to the artists, THEY made the music! Help them, and you’ll feel amazing.. and the reward will come to you eventually. Good communication is the key.
And If we’re talking about YouTube, I’d say it’s quite a rough time and that the market is already saturated too much. BUT, as always, a good quality can find it’s way to audience. Tho it’s 2018, you’ll definitely need some Ad investments and non-stop brainstorming on how to get the numbers you want. Have a vision, do your branding GOOD, and try to find something that no one else did before. Maybe a potential new music trend? Who knows, .. maybe moving video animations that are perfectly suiting every song? etc etc..
Any upcoming stuff you would like to announce to the readers?
ChillYourMind official merch is on it’s way.. and many great new releases..music ..everything! And who knows, maybe one day, a ChillYourMind event? A party on the sea? We will see 😉
